In mid-May, DONG Energy installed the last wind turbine of the major offshore project Gode Wind. Now, all 97 turbines at the Gode Wind 1 and Gode Wind 2 offshore wind farms have been fully installed. With a total capacity of 582 megawatts, the two wind farms will in the future provide enough green power to supply around 600,000 German households. In the summer of this year, the two farms will go into full operation.

As Trine Borum Bojsen, managing director of DONG Energy in Germany, who is responsible for the offshore wind sector, explains: “Gode Wind 1 and Gode Wind 2 are our second and third project in Germany. We officially opened Borkum Riffgrund 1, our first German wind farm, last year. I am proud that we are able to make a significant contribution to the energy transition in Germany. The construction of major projects of this type brings positive economies of scale and contributes to reducing costs for offshore wind power.”

DONG Energy holds 50 percent each of Gode Wind 1 and Gode Wind 2, and after commissioning will be responsible for operational management and maintenance. The Global Infrastructure Partners infrastructure fund also owns a 50 percent share of Gode Wind 1. Talanx, the third-largest insurance group in Germany, is also an indirect investor. Four Danish pension funds, including PKA and Industriens Pension, have a 50 percent share of Gode Wind 2.
