The Eleventh Hamburg Climate Week
Many people want to do something tangible for sustainable development and to make their lives more environmentally friendly, but are faced with a confusing range of legitimate, and also dubious, technological solutions and services. There is already a multitude of successful technologies and business models in the field of sustainability.
The 11th Hamburg Climate Week, from 22 to 29 September 2019, aimed to motivate the famed “average consumer” to rethink, innovate and, above all, act correctly. The Climate Week sees itself as an interaction, integration and communication platform for current and future solutions for a sustainable world.
The Malizia team headed by the Oldenburg skipper Boris Herrmann, team manager Holly Cova and the head of the team's own educational programme, Birte Lorenzen, were the patrons of the 11th Hamburg Climate Week. The sailors of Malizia achieved international fame when they brought climate activist Greta Thunberg across the Atlantic to the UN Climate Conference in New York in August 2019.
“It is a great honour for me to be able to assume this patronage. I hope that the whole city will get involved in climate change,” Boris Herrmann wrote to the Hamburg Climate Week team shortly before his arrival in New York.
Renowned speakers presented the latest information on the 17th United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), shared innovative ideas and provide hands-on alternatives for a more sustainable way of life and tackling climate change. All events were free of charge.
