The Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster, the industry network for future energy sources, welcomes Sebastian Averdung, Managing Director of Averdung Ingenieure, as the new Chairman of the Association for the Development of the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster. On 19 March, he was unanimously elected for the next three years by the general meeting together with five other board members.

"I am looking forward to advancing the cause of the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster and the renewable energy industry overall. In the area of sector coupling in particular, there are currently a few delicate plants flourishing in Hamburg that we as a cluster would like to nurture to full growth. We already worked on this in the thermal energy forum, where I sat on the steering committee," says Sebastian Averdung proudly.

Sebastian Averdung, who holds a degree in industrial engineering, specialises in project development, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Together with Marcel Hanakam and Roman Fritsches, he heads Averdung Ingenieure, an independent Hamburg service provider for technical consulting, planning and construction management in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The board of the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster is complete once again. It includes the following honorary members of the Hamburg renewable energy sector: Michael Prinz, Managing Director of Hamburg Energie GmbH, as Vice-chair of the Board at the Association for the Development of the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster; Ralf Skowronnek, independent consultant in the field of insurance for renewable energy, as Treasurer; Thorsten Hinsche, consultant, as Board Member, Pieter Wasmuth, General Agent of Vattenfall GmbH for the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, as Board Member; Dr Alexandra von Bernstorff, Managing Director of Luxcara GmbH, also a Member of the Board, and the co-opting Board Members Professor Dr Martin Kaltschmitt, TU Hamburg, and Professor Dr Ingo Weidlich, HafenCity University Hamburg.

Michael Westhagemann, then Siemens AG, now Hamburg's Senator for Economics, Transport and Innovation, served as Chairman of the Board from the founding of the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster in autumn 2010 up until October 2018.
