At the end of August, the two cluster organisations became members of each other’s organisations.
In the context of an event dealing with hydrogen in Groningen on August 27, Harold Veldkamp, director of NEC, and Jan Rispens, managing director of Renewable Energy Hamburg, sealed the reciprocal membership and exchanged membership certificates.
Earlier on, NEC and Renewable Energy Hamburg decided cooperate more closely and expand the collaboration on renewable energies between the North German coastal state collaboration westwards to the Netherlands.
Besides the membership, reciprocal delegation visits, events like industrial exhibitions and conferences, research cooperations as well as exchanging experiences will be on the cooperation’s agenda. Furthermore, they will elaborate a common opinion on the future development of offshore wind energy in the North of the Netherlands and Northern Germany.
Apart from the Hamburg Senator for Economics, Traffic and Innovation Michael Westhagemann, who was meeting the Mayor of Groningen, Peter den Oudsten, for a political talk at the City Hall in Groningen, several other representatives from Hamburg and the Netherlands came together to discuss different strategies and research approaches for application of hydrogen in the mobility and heat sector.
New Energy Coalition (NEC) is a knowledge and network organisation striving for a sustainable world by boosting the acceleration of the energy transition. For NEC the energy transition is not only developing new forms of energy production but a system transformation towards a sustainable system of generating, storing, distributing and applying energy.
