Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technological International Trade Fair 2012 Offshore Location Hamburg
SMM, WindEnergy Hamburg – In the coming years, Hamburg will take its place as a trade fair location with a clear focus on wind and offshore energy. In September 2012, the Hamburg Messe und Congress trade fair centre anticipates 50,000 visitors from the industry and 2,000 exhibitors at the leading, long-standing Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technological International Trade Fair, or SMM, which will take place for the 25th time.
A particular focus of this SMM is offshore wind. At the 2nd SMM Offshore Dialogue, around 500 experts from the industry will discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by this new technology. For the maritime industry, the erection of foundations, the construction of transformer stations, the building and fitting of special vehicles and the laying of submarine cables offer new business potential.
Advantage will be taken of synergy effects in 2014, when the Hamburg WindEnergy trade fair will open its doors for the first time, directly after the 26th SMM. Already, leading representatives from the wind energy sector have booked stands, including Areva, Bosch Rexroth, Dong Energy, GE, Gamesa, Nordex, REpower, Siemens, Winergy and ZF. During various acquisition visits to Asia, the trade fair company met a lot of Asian companies being interested in cooperations.
