Milestone in Asia: RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific convinces industry and provides strong impetus
Successful premiere in the Asia-Pacific growth region: the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit Asia-Pacific powered by WindEnergy Hamburg on 19 and 20 May in Singapore impressed with a top-class programme, international participation and a great response from the industry and politics. The event provided important impetus for wind energy and underlines the internationalisation of Hamburg Messe und Congress.
Enthusiastic faces at the end of the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific powered by WindEnergy Hamburg: delegates, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and organisers look back on two intensive conference and trade fair days at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on 19 and 20 May. “The summit was a spectacular success. Our first renewable energy event in the Asia-Pacific growth region has won over the industry community in every respect,” says Heiko M. Stutzinger, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC). For Hamburg Messe und Congress, this is a historic milestone in the further internationalisation of its portfolio – and Singapore, as a strategic hub of the economic area, is the ideal venue for this excellent start.
Strong support from the region
Dr Tan See Leng, Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore, opened the summit with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Valuable support came from the two government institutions Enterprise Singapore and Singapore Tourism Board (STB). The event was further strengthened by the participation of Sue-Ern Tan, Head of the IEA Regional Cooperation Centre of the International Energy Agency (IEA), as well as by the presence of ambassadors from Germany, Norway, Vietnam and Denmark. “The strong participation, in-depth discussions and newly established partnerships at the first RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific are a clear signal of the region’s growing commitment to wind energy. Singapore is actively expanding capabilities and an ecosystem to accelerate the development of renewable energy – especially wind energy – in the region. This strengthens both energy security and environmental sustainability. We look forward to hosting WindEnergy Asia-Pacific 2027 and 2029 and invite global players to be part of it,” says Wong Zeng Yi, Assistant Managing Director for Manufacturing, Enterprise Singapore. The summit thus sends a strong signal for the future of renewable energies.
Key players in the industry
Europe’s largest machinery and equipment association VDMA, for example, was prominently represented in the Asian metropolis: “Our expectations of the event were exceeded. It was an impressive event, in terms of both specialist expertise and organisation. We participated together with several of our members – including OEMs and suppliers to the wind industry,” sums up Dr Dennis Rendschmidt, Managing Director at VDMA Power Systems.
The numbers confirm this verdict: 60 speakers and experts from politics, industry and science presented and debated on the various panels[TK1] ; the total participation of around 1,500 participants from 25 countries was well above expectations; around 40 companies and associations presented their products and services in the exhibition area. “The combination of a top-class conference and exclusive exhibition space brings real added value. In Singapore, too, the participants made intensive use of the many opportunities for professional exchange and networking,” says Claus Ulrich Selbach, Vice President Exhibitions Hamburg Messe und Congress.
High professional quality
The summit was co-organised by renowned trade publication RECHARGE, which contributed its expertise as an international platform and source of inspiration. RECHARGE’s Editor-in-Chief Ole Petter Pedersen moderated the event and also drew a consistently positive conclusion: “The quality of the presentations and panel discussions was excellent.” The focus was on innovation, investment and international cooperation. “The exchange in the areas of grid expansion and storage technology, for example, is essential for the success of the energy transition,” says Pedersen, who underlines the great cooperation with Hamburg Messe und Congress.
As part of the conference programme, Robert Liew, Research Director Power and Renewables Asia Pacific at the consulting firm Wood Mackenzie, gave a comprehensive overview of the market conditions in the region. In her keynote speech, Vicky Roberts-Mills, Global Head of Energy Transition at the AXA insurance group, highlighted the risks and opportunities of financing wind energy projects. In addition, the highly successful APAC market sessions hosted by the Asia Wind Energy Association (AWEA) on the Solution Stage emphasised the significant growth potential of the region as well as the strong momentum in the wind energy sector. The representatives of the exhibiting companies were also more than satisfied. ENERCON, Europe’s leading manufacturer of onshore wind turbines, was on site: “We gained many valuable insights into the current market developments in the region and made numerous promising business contacts with Asian partners,” summarises Steffen Brauns, Regional Head APAC at ENERCON.
