In six months, the most important and largest get-together of the wind industry worldwide starts in Hamburg, the Global Wind Summit: Global leading trade fair WindEnergy Hamburg, combined with the global WindEurope conference, offers a top-class and unique platform for business, networking and information – onshore and offshore. Both top events, the trade fair and conference, will take place simultaneously from 25 to 28 September 2018 on the Hamburg Messe site. Exhibitors, visitors and conference participants from roughly 100 countries are expected to take part in the Global Wind Summit. The nine halls of the leading trade fair WindEnergy Hamburg are almost fully booked six months in advance. Roughly 1400 exhibitors and roughly 35,000 visitors will fill the trade fair halls in September. The WindEurope Conference, being held from Tuesday to Friday at the trade fair centre, offers an excellent programme on the current and future topics of the wind industry with over 500 speakers and specialist presentations. “The trade fair and conference complement one another optimally and combine to form a top-level summit, which is unrivalled worldwide,” emphasises Bernd Aufderheide, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress. Giles Dickson, CEO of WindEurope, adds: “In Hamburg, all decision-makers from the fields of business and politics come together to generate key stimuli to drive wind energy forward worldwide.”

WindEnergy Hamburg: focus on three key topics

WindEnergy Hamburg is the only global trade fair for the onshore and offshore industry. The expected 1400 exhibitors from 35 countries include all leading international companies and specialised providers throughout the entire value chain. They will be presenting their product innovations and custom solutions for the wind industry on over 65,000 square metres. “In particular, the strong presence of global companies shows that the who's who of international business will present their innovations in Hamburg,” says Aufderheide.

In 2018, the global leading trade fair is focusing on the three main topics “Dynamic markets,” “Cost efficiency” and “Smart energy.” “How do I access new markets? How can I be competitive in auctions with my product and how can we use wind electricity for all future energy requirements? – These are some of the key questions that will be answered for the trade visitors,” summarises Aufderheide. “At the Global Wind Summit in Hamburg they will meet key players, pioneers and startup founders from the industry, with their special products and services, which are helping to expand wind energy globally.”

Besides the three key topics, the exhibitors at the global leading trade fair clearly cover all areas of this innovative industry. That is true both in terms of technology and in terms of the most important wind markets around the world. In over 20 national pavilions, industry representatives from different countries and regions present their wind energy expertise. The national flags on the pavilions range from China, South Korea and the USA to many European representatives. The joint Danish stand is the largest, filling all of Hall B1.EG. Trade visitors and delegations from every continent are expected in Hamburg.

Showcase for innovation and high-end networking opportunity

At the trade fair stands, the visitors meet specialised companies covering all key areas of the value chain. Besides turbines and rotor blades, this also includes electrical components, logistics, safety, financing and insurance, innovative materials and smart energy. The “Storage Tour” will guide visitors to exhibitors with solutions for storing renewable energy, focusing on these products and services throughout all of the leading trade fair’s halls.

Several halls highlight the particular requirements of offshore wind, including special ship, component and service providers from the maritime sector.

Startup companies will have their own area at the global trade fair in 2018. For example, this includes the “Young Innovatives” joint stand, which is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). In addition, WindEnergy Hamburg offers international startup companies, which specialise in smart energy sector innovations, opportunities to meet global partners via speed dating. The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) offers another way to find new business partners: It invites all exhibitors and visitors to WindEnergy Hamburg to a B2B matchmaking event: WindEnergyMatch 2018 on 27 and 28 September.

WindEurope conference in the trade fair halls

The most important on and offshore conference worldwide in 2018, WindEurope, taking place simultaneously, also has a global focus. Over 500 speakers and presentations offer participants the best insights into the future of the wind industry.

WindEnergy Hamburg and Husum Wind

The global wind energy summit will take place from 25 to 28 September 2018 in the wind capital, Hamburg: At WindEnergy Hamburg, roughly 1400 exhibitors from around the world will present their product innovations and projects. Husum Wind will take place from 10 to 13 September 2019 and will focus on the German wind energy market and its technology leadership.
