On 18 April 2018, Danfoss opened its new office in the Columbus-Haus building in Hamburg’s Hafencity area. The 1,600 square metre premises can accommodate up to 120 employees. 75 colleagues from all four company segments are already working in the new location. The office is not only a state-of-the-art workplace, it is also to become a hub for topics like energy efficiency, digitalization and flexible co-working. Danfoss is one of the most highly diversified full-service providers of components and systems for energy-efficient heating, cooling and air conditioning technology. The Danish manufacturer supplies the Hafencity and Elbphilharmonie concert hall with intelligent, energy-saving technology for buildings and district heating systems.

“Our new office in the heart of Hamburg could soon become a magnet for talent and specialists from a range of industries,” explains Ole Møller-Jensen, CEO of Danfoss GmbH. “Energy efficiency, digitalization and co-working are our current priorities, which means that fascinating synergies are certain to result at this attractive location. At the same time, we are represented throughout the Hafencity with our energy-saving heating, cooling and air conditioning technologies, giving us important reference projects like the Elbphilharmonie in the immediate vicinity.”

Flexible working environment with a port view

The new Danfoss office boasts a large showroom and various open spaces and meeting rooms, including a breathtaking view of the port. In line with new work principles, the office was developed by teams of employees of various age groups, supported by interior design firm B8. The concept also means that many employees do not have set workstations any more. “Working flexibly increases communication between colleagues across all divisions, hierarchies and age groups,” says Dirk Leinweber, Director Sales Food Retail at Danfoss Cooling, who already works in the new office. “The concept has already proved itself a great success in the first few weeks.”
