The awards ceremony will be held on 22 September 2020 at the Opernloft theatre at Hamburg’s old Altona ferry terminal. After the awards ceremony, cluster members and supporters of the sector can round off the day at our reception.

We invite all interested applicants to upload their documents here by 4 pm on 15 May 2020.

You are also welcome to forward this invitation to companies, colleagues or fellow students who may have innovative ideas in the field of renewable energies.

We are delighted with the positive feedback that we have received from winners of previous years:

2018 AGS-Verfahrenstechnik GmbH/ Stadtwerke Stade: Olaf Schacht (Head of Networks and Plants Division)

“Since the German Renewables Award, the development of the buoyancy-supported slipping method has progressed steadily along with its dissemination to the general public. As part of the 7th German Federal Energy Research Programme or via the Federal Electricity Grid Action Plan, we are aiming to run a high voltage pilot line as a parallel circuit to an existing 380-kV overhead line (output and infeed). (…) A worldwide patent application is also being filed.

2017 E.ON/Equinor – Arkona Offshore Wind Farm - Thermal spray aluminium process for monopile foundations, Holger Matthiesen (Arkona Project Director):

“We used this innovative method for protecting wind turbine foundations from corrosion for the first time in the world at the Arkona Offshore Wind project. After winning the 2017 German Renewables Award for the project, we successfully installed the 60 foundations and set the complete wind farm into operation. The corrosion protection concept has fulfilled our expectations and is now also being included in plans for new projects.”

2016 Freqcon GmbH - Ultracapacitor Grid Stabilizer, Norbert Hennchen (Managing Director):

“Since the product was introduced during the German Renewables Award, our Ultracapacitor Grid Stabilizer has been used in projects handling a total of over 10 MW. (…) We have now acquired sales partners in 10 European countries for the successful marketing of the UGS. We would like to expressly thank Renewable Energy Hamburg for the awards ceremony!”
