Applications being accepted for the German Renewables Award 2015 Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster honours innovations from the renewable energy sector

Rotor blade heating systems, offshore projects – over the past three years, the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster has honoured a variety of innovations in renewable energy sector with the German Renewables Award. Between 7th April and 5th June 2015, interested parties can submit entries for the categories "Product Innovation of the Year", "Project of the Year" and “Student Thesis of the Year" and be nominated for the "Lifetime Achievement" category. The award ceremony is on 3rd December 2015 as part of the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster five year anniversary celebration at the Empire Riverside Hotel in Hamburg.

The Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster will award one first price in each category, provided there are at least three entries per category. An independent, top class jury shall select the winners.  The award for “Product Innovation of the Year”, “Project of the Year” and “Lifetime Achievement” includes a certificate, a trophy and a year’s free entry to all events that are organised by the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster as the sole organiser. Furthermore, “Student Thesis of the Year” (bachelor, master or diploma thesis) is endowed with 5,000 euros prize money.

The jury is comprised of Prof. Dr. Jens Born, Flensburg University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule Flensburg), Prof. Dr. Maximilian Gege, B.A.U.M. e.V., Dr. Kai Hünemörder, Centre for Energy, Water and Environmental Engineering (Zentrum für Energie-, Wasser, und Umwelttechnik, ZEWU), Dr. Daniela Jacob, Climate Service Center Hamburg, Dr. Gerd Meier zu Köcker, VDI/VDE-IT Innovation + Technik GmbH, Prof. Dr. Andreas Reuter, Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (Fraunhofer-Institut für Windenergie und Energiesystemtechnik, IWES), Andreas Schröter, Director of Division Renewables Certification at DNV GL Energy, and Rüdiger Theophil, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

"Over the past three years, we have been amazed at the amount of entries for the German Renewables Award. Companies have suggested clever ideas, marketable innovations and excellent projects. Outstanding personalities in the renewable energy sector have been nominated for their lifetime achievement. The fourth award ceremony is taking place during our fifth anniversary celebration giving it an extra touch of festivity,” said Jan Ripsens, Managing Director at the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster.
