Mega turbines, Nobel Prize winners, up-and-coming scientists – the German Renewables Award honours the crème de la crème of Germany’s renewable energies industry. Interested companies and students have been able to submit their ideas, projects and dissertations for the tenth German Renewables Award since 4 February 2022.

In 2022, the EEHH Cluster Agency will present this prestigious and acclaimed industry award in the principal Life Time Achievement, Product Innovation of the Year, Project of the Year, and Dissertation of the Year categories, Journalist Award sub-category and for the second time in the new Hydrogen Innovation of the Year category. The official award ceremony is expected to take place on 24 August 2022 at Altonaer Kaispeicher.

The ‘Hydrogen Innovation of the Year’ category only accepts entries with a clear reference to hydrogen production, storage, transport or usage. These entries can be both product and project-based. They should focus on the use of hydrogen produced using renewable energies (‘green hydrogen’). A special two-stage evaluation process applies to the ‘Hydrogen Innovation of the Year’ category. Applicants should initially submit their documents via the EEHH website by 25 March 2022. A number of these will then be selected to present their projects during ‘The Blue Beach’ summer event on 23 June 2022. The audience will determine the top three projects and/or products via live voting. The German Renewables Awards’ expert panel will then evaluate these and choose the winner.

An exclusive panel consisting of representatives from business, science and research selects the award winners during a two-stage process. Individuals can be nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award category. The industry network will use a separate process to present the EEHH Journalist Award for the fifth time. Winners of the German Renewables Awards will receive a trophy and be interviewed for the EEHH blog or the EEHH ‘New Energy from Hamburg’ podcast. The panel will reward the author of the dissertation containing outstanding research into the fundamentals of renewable energies with a prize of EUR 1,000.

Interested applicants are invited to submit their project proposals or nominations electronically on the EEHH website between 4 February and 25 March 2022.
