Ørsted is a Danish energy supplier which deals exclusively with renewable energy.
The company is a global market leader in the planning, construction, and operation of offshore wind farms. It develops and operates biomass power plants and innovative waste processing installations in Europe, Taiwan, and the USA. Its headquarters is in Denmark.
Ørsted has 5,800 employees around the world. In 2016, the company reported a turnover of 8.2 billion euros.
Ørsted shares are listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen (Orsted).
Ørsted in Germany
Ørsted has operated in Germany since 2006. With three completed offshore wind farms and one currently being constructed in the German North Sea, Ørsted is also an industry leader in this field, and produces green electricity for almost a million German households. In April 2017, the company was awarded the contract for the construction of three additional German wind farms.
Two of them will be built without state subsidies and are expected to be connected to the grid in 2024 and 2025.
Furthermore, Ørsted also offers its German clients from the industrial and public utilities sectors intelligent energy solutions.
