Helmut Schmidt University of the Federal Armed Forces
As one of two universities of the German Federal Armed Forces, the Helmut Schmidt University is open to young officer cadets, 2,500 of whom are currently taking academic degrees as part of their education. For research purposes, it cooperates closely with other universities and research institutes in the Hamburg metropolitan region. The specialisations of the 95 professors and 270 research and teaching assistants include renewable energy, mobility, logistics, as well as medical technology and biotechnology. The Helmut Schmidt University is not only involved in the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster, but also in the Hamburg Aviation Cluster and the Biocatalysis 2021 Research Cluster.
