ProTecBird is a scale-up company founded in Husum that develops, manufactures, and markets AI- and camera-based species protection systems designed to reconcile the expansion of wind energy with bird protection in an environmentally sustainable manner.

The AVES Wind® anti-collision system (ACS) is installed on onshore wind turbine generators (WTG). It identifies birds by species and shuts down the WTG only when a protected bird approaches the rotor blades.

The AVES Wind® High Precision Counter (HPC), developed for offshore WTG, monitors exclusively the rotor area and counts the birds flying through this area day and night. The recorded data meets regulatory requirements and is used to calculate collision models.

ProTecBird is also setting new standards in aviation: With AVES Airport®, it has developed a fully automated system that effectively prevents bird strikes during aircraft takeoff and landing—ensuring maximum air traffic safety and the protection of biodiversity.
