Hamburg Wasser
HAMBURG WASSER is the central water and wastewater specialist of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and one of the largest municipal utilities in Germany. The group, consisting of Hamburger Wasserwerke GmbH and Hamburger Stadtentwässerung AöR, reliably supplies around two million people in the metropolitan region with drinking water and treats approximately 400,000 cubic meters of wastewater every day. In doing so, the company makes a significant contribution to public health, environmental protection, and the preservation of water resources.
Together with its subsidiaries CONSULAQUA Hamburg and servTEC, the group brings more than 180 years of experience in the water sector to projects in Germany and abroad. This includes consulting services, the development of modern infrastructure, and innovative solutions for sustainable water and wastewater management.
As a publicly owned utility, HAMBURG WASSER pursues a clear future-oriented strategy: using resources responsibly, increasing energy efficiency, and actively contributing to Hamburg’s path toward climate neutrality. Many of the company’s projects have a strong energy focus — from renewable energy systems at its sites to the use of biogas and heat recovery from wastewater. In this way, HAMBURG WASSER positions itself as an active partner in driving the energy transition in Hamburg and beyond.
