SeaRenergy is working on the development of a 3D sensor
SeaRenergy is currently working on the development of a 3D sensor for rapid real-time imaging of subsea structures. The development is conducted by a consortium consisting of Fraunhofer IOF, 3plusplus GmbH, Oktopus GmbH, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and SeaRenergy. The project is promoted by the research center Jülich and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The new subsea sensor is designed for mobile scanning by ROV and aims at vessel time savings. With measurements based on optics and IMU, no additional tools will be required and results will be given out in real-time.
The consortium is currently preparing the first prototype sensor for dry tests. First offshore tests are planned for early 2021.
