With the increasing share of renewable energy, power systems are undergoing a rapid transformation driving a structural shift in the way they will be operated. Power electronic converters have the potential to significantly facilitate the integration of the increasing amount of non-synchronous renewable energy sources in the system.

Quality, robustness and efficiency improvement with the help of Wide Bandgap SiC based devices for power conversion on the one hand, delivery of new types of ancillary services in unstable grid conditions thanks to new control capabilities offered by Model Predictive Control and the simultaneous multi-variable optimal control on the other hand.

In the end it is all about two questions:

What is the adequate solution framework? What tools to invest into to achieve an efficient integration of wind energy and deliver ancillary services?
