Onshore-Wind Development in Fukushima, Japan

September 25th 16:30 – 17:30 hrs

Location: HH Messe und Congress GmbH, Messeplatz 1, Hall A4, Room A4.3

During the seminar wind energy development plans as well as the further energy related plans in the Prefecture of Fukushima will be presented by the Managing Director of the Energy Agency Fukushima, Mr. Yasuhiro Hattori.

About onshore wind plans in Fukushima:

After being hit by a strong earthquake, tsunami and subsequent nuclear accident in 2011, the Prefecture of Fukushima in Japan has developed an ambitious plan to completely switch to renewable energy sources by 2040. This plan has a strong backing of the Japanese government. First step of this plan is to install approx. 200 onshore wind turbines in the prefecture in the next few years – site assessment and licensing has mostly been completed. Within the Prefecture of Fukushima also a new research center has been developed in the last few years, the Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute. Here, significant research for renewable energy supply, energy storage and Hydrogen has been concentrated – supported by the Government of Japan.

About EnergyAgency Fukushima:

The Renewable Energy Hamburg cluster and the Energy Agency of Fukushima have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2018, to mutually support companies and information exchange in the field of wind energy and the development of a hydrogen economy.

The seminar is free of charge.
