The European Green Deal is the European Union’s action plan towards a sustainable and climate-neutral economy. Large amounts of the 750 billion Euros of the Covid-19 recovery fund “Next generation EU” and the Multiannual Financial Framework are designated to the objectives of the European Green Deal. Among many others, this deal includes indicatory policies on clean energy, sustainable industry and mobility. With policies such as the European Hydrogen Strategy or the EU Energy System Integration Strategy, the European Green Deal has a significant impact on German Energy Policy and Industry. The EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) is targeting to increase the share of energy from renewable sources for the supply of the electricity, heat as well as transport sector.
