The European Green Deal is the European Union’s action plan towards a sustainable and climate-neutral economy. Large amounts of the 750 billion Euros of the Covid-19 recovery fund “Next generation EU” and the Multiannual Financial Framework are designated to the objectives of the European Green Deal. Among many others, this deal includes indicatory policies on clean energy, sustainable industry and mobility. With policies such as the European Hydrogen Strategy or the EU Energy System Integration Strategy, the European Green Deal has a significant impact on German Energy Policy and Industry. The EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) is targeting to increase the share of energy from renewable sources for the supply of the electricity, heat as well as transport sector.

In this webinar we would like to take a closer look on European energy policy from several perspectives with the following speakers and topics:

Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein benefit from its wide network of contacts with the European institutions which make it possible to incorporate the interests of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein into the decision-making processes at European level. Within the Hanse Office, Karsten Gödderz is responsible for energy, environmental, climate, and marine policies.

Pierre joined WindEurope in 2011 and has more than a decade’s experience shaping European Climate and Energy policies. He holds degrees from College of Europe, Paris Catholic Institute and Strasbourg Institute of Political Science.
