EEHH-Webinar: Hamburg-Québec "Renewable collaboration and economic development opportunities"

Erneuerbare Energien Hamburg Clusteragentur GmbH
Veranstalter: Erneuerbare Energien Hamburg Clusteragentur GmbH
ZOOM

Québec generates nearly 100% its electricity from renewable sources, primarily from hydropower. Wind and solar still account for a small amount of electricity generation but will play a more important role in implementing the province’s strategies to meet the challenges of the energy transition. Currently, 44 wind farms with a total installed capacity of around 4GW are operating in Québec. Over the next decade, Québec’s government plans to add 10GW of new wind energy capacity which will be enough to supply over two million households. Hydro- Québec, the regional public utility company, will be a leading market player for large-scale wind energy projects.

Hamburg is a major European hub for renewable industry, with a dynamic business network of companies, public stakeholders and knowledge institutions representing the whole value chain for renewable energy. Hamburg-based wind turbine manufacturer Nordex received an order for more than 100MW with anti-icing system for an onshore wind farm in Québec at the end of 2024. Most recently, Nordex has established a new team and office in Montréal to strengthen its presence which underlines the attractiveness and importance of Québec in terms of wind energy.

Hamburg and Québec share a strong commitment to decarbonizing their energy supply, industry, and economy — a transition that brings significant economic opportunities. This joint webinar, organized by the EEHH Cluster and Investissement Québec, Québec’s economic development agency, will explore market entry opportunities in both regions.

Participation is free of charge.
