Data analytics and machine learning in wind and solar energy

Many industries use data analytics and machine learning to reduce costs and to improve efficiency and quality; but it is also becoming a strong source of income. A well-known example is Amazon – generating almost half of its sales through recommendations it makes to its customers based on data about their buying behaviors and previous purchases as well as purchases from comparable customers.

Renewable power plants, such as wind turbines and solar modules, have had sensor technology installed from the very beginning. Thus, vast amounts of data exist in the solar and wind industries, making it possible to implement machine learning techniques for prediction and classification purposes. In a presentation DNV GL will showcase how data analytics and machine learning can be applied to facilitate planning, operation and maintenance in the wind industry. In addition, a newly developed mechanical load prediction service will be introduced. In a subsequent Q & A session, you will have the opportunity to discuss your questions with our experts. We will have small breakfast snacks available for you - your participation is free of charge.
