WindEnergy Hamburg and WindEurope Conference 2018 to be held simultaneously at the Hamburg Messe venue
Wind energy has made a breakthrough – both on the energy market and in terms of technological development and geographical distribution. The European success story has become a global success story. Over 70 non-European countries have focused on wind energy in their national climate protection plans; wind power is used to generate electricity in over 90 countries around the world. This breakthrough is also manifested in the global summit of the wind energy sector, which will take place in Hamburg in 2018. Together with the global WindEurope conference, leading trade fair WindEnergy Hamburg is the largest and most international gathering for business, networking and information for the entire wind industry – onshore and offshore. Both top events will take place simultaneously from 25 to 28 September 2018 on the Hamburg Messe site.
The global wind summit will bring together decision-makers from business and politics to discuss the current market situation, sound out future perspectives and share their experiences. The latest technical developments to optimise, increase yield and reduce the costs of wind turbines will also be on show. And last, but not least, many deals will be made in Hamburg, securing many jobs and reducing CO2 emissions.
Frank Horch, Economics, Transport and Innovation Senator of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg: “In September 2018, the trade fair site will be the hotspot for the wind industry – Hamburg will once again highlight its role as the global capital of wind. Using the ‘North German Energy Transition (NEW) 4.0’ project by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as an example, we show how trans-regional power supply solutions of the future should be. With its wind expertise cluster, Hamburg is the ideal location for the global wind summit.
Bernd Aufderheide, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress: “As the organisers of the leading trade fair worldwide, we are pooling our expertise with WindEurope to offer the wind industry the best development platform for growing global prospects. This high-grade industry event with an absolutely global focus that will take place in Hamburg in 2018 is unrivalled worldwide.”
WindEnergy Hamburg is the only global leading trade fair for the onshore and offshore industry. All international leading companies and specialised providers throughout the entire value chain will present their products and services on 65,000 square metres. One year before the trade fair starts, 80 percent of the space has already been sold. The trade fair organisers expect roughly 1400 exhibitors with their latest products and services for all areas of wind energy. The trade fair incorporates all areas of this innovative industry and showcases trends and international markets. Besides the major manufacturers of turbines and components, planners and service providers, many countries around the world will present their wind energy expertise in national pavilions. “Whether as exhibitors, visitors or delegation participants, we expect over 35,000 experts from all continents in Hamburg,” says Aufderheide. “After all, WindEnergy Hamburg is the most important global platform for business and networking, where many new orders will be placed.”
At the same time, WindEurope will hold the most important onshore and offshore conference at the trade fair site. WindEurope is the voice of the industry; the Association actively promotes wind energy in Europe and around the world. The 2018 conference in Hamburg brings together experts from the private sector and ministries, as well as other stakeholders to assess the challenges and opportunities of different wind energy markets and discuss the developments in political conditions, technology, financing and costs. Over 500 presentations are planned, offering participants the best insight into the future of the wind industry.
The summit of short distances: The trade fair and conference will take place simultaneously at the same venue, with conference rooms in the actual trade fair halls. Specifically, the WindEurope Conference will occupy the upper floors of Halls B3 and B4. WindEnergy Hamburg will take place in Halls B1 to B7 and A1 and A2.
